The 37th International Emmy Awards took place Monday, November 23, 2009 at the Hilton Hotel, New York. Hosted by British comedian, Graham Norton, the ceremony honored both; Sir David Frost, one of the preeminent television figures of the 20th
century whose interviews with President Richard Nixon were immortalized
in last year’s Oscar nominated movie Frost/Nixon, as he received the
2009 International Emmy® Founders Award; and Prof. Markus Schächter, Director General of German public-service
broadcaster ZDF, one of Europe’s largest and most respected
broadcasters, as he received the 2009 International Emmy®
Directorate Award.
The International Emmy Awards Gala is the world’s most prestigious international television event. Held each year in November at the Hilton Hotel, New York City, a cast of international celebrities present International Emmy® Awards to winners in 10 categories as over 1,000 television professionals, 200 journalists and photographers representing the world’s leading media outlets, gather to celebrate excellence in television produced outside of the U.S.
