Brazil’s Minister of Culture to Address Guests at Third Academy Day Event
MIPTV-Cannes, April 16, 2007 — The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced today that its third International Academy Day will be held May 6-9, 2008 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event is hosted and organized by TV Globo and its President Roberto Irineu Marinho. TV Globo is the largest network in South America and one of the leading producers of content in the world.
A special conference program designed to shine a spotlight on South America’s television industry, the event will feature panels and keynotes from leading television organizations from the region as well as social events and sightseeing activities hosted by TV Globo. Participants will include International Academy Members, Government officials as well as television executives and producers from the region.
The International Academy’s inaugural International Academy Day took place in Mexico City in 2005 and last year the event was held in Beijing.

Program highlights to date include a presentation on Brazil’s television industry and a panel on new media.
Over 200 television and media professionals are expected to attend.
