First Ever Nominations for News & Current Affairs Coverage from Bulgaria & India<\/strong><\/p>\n

New York, August 8, 2024<\/strong> \u2013 The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences today announced the nominees for the 2024 News & Current Affairs categories. The International Emmy\u00ae<\/sup> winners will be recognized alongside their American news peers during a ceremony in New York City, on September 25.<\/p>\n

The 8 nominees span 6 countries: Brazil, Bulgaria, India, Israel, Qatar and the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

This is the first ever News nomination for Nova Broadcasting Group, Bulgaria and Current Affairs nomination for BBC India Eye (World Service).<\/p>\n

\u201cIn a world rocked by increasing turmoil and conflict, the importance of reliable broadcast journalism is more crucial than ever.\u201d said Bruce L. Paisner, President & CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. \u201cWe salute the journalists around the world who risk their safety every day, and tragically sometimes their lives, to bring important human and political issues front and center.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nominated programs in the News category include stories on the Israel-Hamas conflict, a pay scheme in Rio de Janeiro\u2019s City Council and the Lokorsko tragedy during which 18 migrants suffocated on a fatal journey.<\/p>\n

Nominated Programs in the Current Affairs category include investigations into the October 7 massacre, an undercover report about a secret hospital during the civil war in Myanmar, a deadly loan app scam in India and the story of two siblings held captive by Hamas.<\/p>\n
