BBC World Service garnered its first ever Emmy nomination for a program from its Nigeria feed, making it a first nomination for BBC World Service and for Nigeria. The Current Affairs report covers the country’s devastating addiction to codeine cough syrup which reveals the horrors of an opioid crisis and exposes the corrupt forces behind it.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Brazil\u2019s TV Globo is nominated in both categories for the coverage of the killing of city councilor Marielle Franco (News) and 11 days in North Korea during the 70th anniversary of the nation\u2019s founding (Current Affairs).<\/p>\n
