2017 INTERNATIONAL EMMY® AWARDS NOMINEES FOR NEWS & CURRENT AFFAIRS ANNOUNCED

7 First Ever Emmy Nomination for Israel’s i24NEWS and First Current Affairs Nomination for Sweden’s SVT
 

 

New York, August 7, 2017 – The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences today announced the nominees for the 2017 News & Current Affairs categories. Winners will be announced in New York on October 5, at Jazz at Lincoln Center. The International Emmy winners will be recognized alongside their American news and documentary peers.

The 8 Nominees span 6 countries on 3 continents. The countries are: Brazil, Israel, Malaysia, the Philippines, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

Israeli network i24NEWS has garnered its first ever Emmy nomination in the News category for its French language coverage of the Republican National Convention. Swedish Public Broadcaster, SVT scored its first nomination in the Current Affairs category for an investigation into the Panama Papers. Additionally, Brazil’s TV Globo is nominated in both categories.

2016 International Emmy® Award Nominees Span 15 Countries

New York, September 26, 2016 - Nominations for the 2016 International Emmy®Awards were announced today by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. There are 40 Nominees across 10 categories and 15 countries. The full list of Nominees follows this release. Winners will be announced at a black-tie Ceremony on November 21, 2016 at the Hilton New York Hotel. 

Nominees come from: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, France, Germany, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates and the United States. 

"The International Emmy competition is the pinnacle for recognizing excellence in television around the world," said Bruce L. Paisner,President and CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. "We congratulate the 2016 Nominees and welcome them to our global stage." 

In addition to the presentation of the International Emmy® Awards for programming and performances, the Academy will present two special awards. Shonda Rhimes, the Writer, Executive Producer and Creator behind global hit series Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder and The Catch will receive the International Emmy Founders Award. Maria Rørbye Rønn, the Chief Executive Officer & Director General of Danish Broadcasting Corporation, which pioneered and drove the success of Nordic Noir drama around the world will receive the International Emmy Directorate Award.
