ENTERTAINMENT EXPERIENCE (THE NETHERLANDS) WINS NON-FICTION 

 
MIPTV-Cannes, April 8, 2013 –  The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced tonight the winners of the International Digital Emmy Awards at a ceremony attended by over 300 international executives from the television, broadband, and mobile industries, organized in partnership with Reed Midem and sponsored by the Bell Fund of Canada.

The Children & Young People category was won by dirtgirlworld… dig it all (mememe productions/dirtgirlworld productions/Screen Australia ), a transmedia project featuring apps that kids can use in nature, won the Children & Young People category. Guidestones ( 3 o’ clock.tv /iThentic, ) a series about two journalism students who uncover a global conspiracy while investigating an unsolved murder, won the Fiction category. Entertainment Experience (FCCE/Ziggo) , which follows the development and production process of a user-generated movie by Hollywood director Paul Verhoeven, won the Non-Fiction category. This year’s Pioneer Prize was presented to Anthony E. Zuiker, the visionary creator of the CSI franchise, for his innovative contributions to the field of digital entertainment with his online thriller, Cybergeddon. “With cutting-edge concepts and technology that pushes every frontier, these Emmy ® winners brilliantly demonstrate the wonderful versatility of multiplatform storytelling.” said Bruce L. Paisner, President & CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, who presented the Pioneer Prize to Zuiker.

dirtgirlworld is a transmedia project that believes little things, and little kids, can make a big difference in the world. dirtgirlworld is a get grubby, get outside world in which technology gets kids off the couch and out the door. The project features apps kids can use in nature and cameras to capture what they discover. It is about building a community and forming a lifelong relationship with nature.

Guidestones is the story of two journalism students who uncover a global conspiracy while investigating an unsolved murder. The series explores the mystery of the Georgia Guidestones, a monument in rural Georgia inscribed with directions for rebuilding civilization after the apocalypse. Each episode ends with a cliffhanger, and hidden somewhere in the episode is a clue. If viewers locate and search that clue online, it will take them to a world of hidden videos, web sites, and other information that will allow them to move ahead of the protagonists.

Entertainment Experience follows the development of a user-generated movie. Hollywood director Paul Verhoeven asked the world to help him produce a new movie. 30,000 people, among them screenwriters, actors, filmmakers, and composers, all worked together to influence the production process for a new movie and created the movie themselves.
