TO CHAIR 50TH INTERNATIONAL EMMY® AWARDS GALA
 
 
New York, September 23, 2022 – TV Globo Network Head, Amauri Soares, will serve as Gala Chair for the 50th International Emmy® Awards, which will take place on Monday, November 21, 2022 in New York City, it was announced today by International Academy President & CEO, Bruce Paisner. In his current role, Soares leads Brazil’s behemoth No.1 free-to-air TV network which reaches 99.6% of Brazilian homes.
 
Soares will preside over the Gala, during which the International Academy will recognize programming in fifteen program categories and as previously announced, will present Special Awards to Ava DuVernay and Miky Lee. Acclaimed Film & TV director, writer and producer Ava DuVernay will receive the International Emmy® Founders Award. Miky Lee, Vice Chairwoman of CJ Group, and founder of CJENM, Korea’s foremost film and television studio will receive the International Emmy® Directorate Award.

Amauri Soares joined TV Globo in 1987 as a journalist and rapidly rose through the ranks to become Head of TV Globo’s free-to- air network in 2020, when TV Globo became part of Globo. Globo is Latin America’s largest media company reaching 100 million viewers daily.
