CURRENT AFFAIRS & NEWS NOMINEES ANNOUNCED FOR 2012 INTERNATIONAL EMMY® AWARDS

NOMINEES SPAN 7 COUNTRIES: BRAZIL, CANADA, CHINA, GERMANY, JAPAN, QATAR AND RUSSIA.

New York, August 21, 2012 – The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences today announced the nominees for the 2012 Current Affairs and News categories. The Academy will present the nominees with their medals and certificates, at a breakfast event on October 1, in New York City, featuring guest speaker David Westin, former President of ABC News and author of recently published Exit Interview. Winners will be announced that night at a Ceremony at the Frederick P. Rose Hall of Jazz at Lincoln Center. The international winners will be honored alongside their American news and documentary counterparts.
 
The 8 Nominees span 7 countries: Brazil (2), Canada, China, Germany, Japan, Qatar and Russia.
 
“The 2012 nominees present a powerful showcase of the human, political and socio-economic drama unfolding daily around the world,” said Bruce L. RICARDO B. SALINAS, FOUNDER & CHAIRMAN OF MEXICO’S AZTECA TO CHAIR 40th INTERNATIONAL EMMY® AWARDS GALA

AZTECA WILL ALSO KICK-OFF THE NOMINEES’ CELEBRATION BY HOSTING THE INTERNATIONAL EMMY® WORLD TELEVISION FESTIVAL OPENING COCKTAIL AT THE NEW YORK HISTORICAL SOCIETY


 
New York, August 13, 2012 – Ricardo B. Salinas, Founder & Chairman of Mexico’s Azteca television network and a Director of the International Academy, will serve as Gala Chair for the 40th International Emmy Awards Gala, which will take place Monday, November 19th, in New York City, announced Bruce L. Paisner, President & CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

 
Mr. Salinas will preside at the Gala and welcome guests at the beginning of the program. During the Gala, the International Academy will present Emmys in nine program categories as well as two special awards. Glee Creator Ryan Murphy, will receive the 2012 International Emmy Founders Award while Korean Broadcasting System President & CEO, Dr. Kim In-Kyu, will receive the 2012 International Emmy Directorate Award. A special event to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the International Emmy Awards will be announced this Fall.
 
“Ricardo Salinas is an outstanding entrepreneur, philanthropist, and media visionary,” said Mr. Paisner. “We are delighted that he and his company, Azteca, will be a key part of our 40th anniversary celebrations.”  
 
The Opening Reception for the International Emmy World Television Festival will be hosted by Mr. Salinas and Azteca and will take place at the newly remodeled New York Historical Society building at Central Park West and 77th Street.
 
“We look forward to this year’s International Emmy events and furthering international cooperation in the broadcasting and entertainment industry,” said Mr. Salinas.
