New York, June 9, 2016 – Maria Rørbye Rønn, the Chief Executive Officer & Director General of Danish Broadcasting Corporation, which pioneered and drove the success of Nordic Noir drama around the world, will receive the 2016 International Emmy® Directorate Award, on Monday, November 21, in New York City. Under Maria Rørbye Rønn’s leadership, DR has continued to assert itself and expand its position within Nordic Noir drama.

“As a small player in a reality of growing global media offerings we believe that original quality content is our main characteristics made possible due to the public service which allows us to invest in creative environments,” says Maria Rørbye Rønn . “I am immensely proud of the honor and share it with all my colleagues in DR. They are the true winners. On behalf of everyone at DR I want to thank the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for this recognition.”

DR has gone through a significant development as a public service broadcasting institution the past years. Thus DR supports the democratic debate and strengthens the cultural identity. Maria Rørbye Rønn started her career at DR in 1995 in the legal department and rose through the ranks by holding several key executive positions. She was appointed CEO/Director General in 2011.
