2020 INTERNATIONAL EMMY® AWARDS NOMINEES SPAN 20 COUNTRIES

New York, September 24, 2020Nominations for the 2020 International Emmy® Awards were announced today by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. There are 44 Nominees across 11 categories and 20 countries. The full list of Nominees follows this release. All these programs were broadcast between January 1 and December 31, 2019; in accordance with the competition’s eligibility period.

“Congratulations to all the Nominees! – we are especially proud to recognize and honor the world’s best storytellers, producers and performers,” said Bruce L. Paisner, President & CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. “At a time of crisis where most of us have to stay home most of the time, television entertains us and provides a window on our world.”

Nominees come from: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, the United Kingdom & the United States.

All nominated program trailers and exclusive Nominee interviews will be featured online during the International Emmy World Television Festival from November 13 to 23 on the International Academy’s website www.iemmys.tv.

Winners will be announced at a Ceremony produced from New York City, on Monday, November 23, 2020, details of which will be announced in October.

This year’s Gala partners are: Phoenix Satellite Television, TV Globo, Portable.TV, Ay Yapim, Ernst & Young, Miptv, Sofitel Hotel NY and Variety.

International Emmy World Television Festival partners are: Frame.io, Buena Vista Original Productions, JCS International, HBO, Natpe, Film and Media NRW, FKKS and Discop.

“Hong Kong Year of Living Dangerously ” Wins International Emmy® for News

“Undercover: Inside China’s Digital Gulag” Wins International Emmy® for Current Affairs

 

New York, September 21, 2020 –  The 2020 International Emmy for News was presented tonight to Hong Kong Year of Living Dangerously (Channel 4 News / ITN, United Kingdom), showing how in 2019, Hong Kong surprised itself, China and the rest of the world. 
 
The International Emmy for Current Affairs was presented to Undercover: Inside China’s Digital Gulag (Hardcash Productions / ITV, United Kingdom). ITV went undercover into China’s secretive Xinjiang region. 
 
Both International Emmys were presented by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences during an online ceremony in conjunction with the US News Emmys. Entered programs were broadcast between January 1 and December 31, 2019; in accordance with the competition’s eligibility period and thus did not include any coverage about Covid-19 or social justice. 
 
“Tonight, we are privileged to recognize the courageous journalists behind these excellent programs.” said International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences President & CEO, Bruce L. Paisner, while presenting the Emmys. “It has been fashionable in some places to talk a lot about fake news, but the nominated programs make it clear that the news coverage around the world is not only not fake, but essential to people conducting their lives in these complicated times.”

9th International Emmy® Kids Awards Nominees Announced

Ceremony to Take Place Online October 14

 

New York, September 10, 2020 – Nominations for the International Emmy® Kids Awards were announced today by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. There are 12 Nominees in 3 categories. (Full list of Nominees follows this release). This is the second time this year that the Academy has presented Kids Emmys; the accelerated schedule is due to various factors related to the Covid-19 virus. This presentation will be made during Mipcom Online +. 
 
Nominations span 10 countries: Australia, Brazil, Finland, Japan, Mexico, The Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden and the United Kingdom. 
 
“The geographic spread and variety of themes addressed in these nominated programs demonstrate the buoyancy and quality of children’s television throughout the world,” said Bruce L. Paisner, President & CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. “We congratulate the Nominees for their outstanding talent and for setting the standard of excellence we expect for young viewers worldwide.” 
 
International Emmy® Kids Awards presenting partners are: Ernst & Young, MIPJunior and TV Kids.
