GREG BERLANTI TO RECEIVE 2018 INTERNATIONAL EMMY® FOUNDERS AWARD

Record Setting Writer & Producer Behind Global Hits “Dawson’s Creek”, “The Flash” & “Blindspot”, to be Honored at 46th International Emmy® Awards, on November 19, in New York

 

New York/Cannes-Miptv, April 9, 2018 – The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced today that Writer, Director and Producer Greg Berlanti- who holds the record for most shows on US television networks at the same time (eleven), will receive the 2018 International Emmy® Founders Award at the 46th International Emmy® Awards Gala, on Monday, November 19, 2018, in New York City.

“Greg Berlanti is a renaissance producer whose shows and characters have the unique power to strike a chord with global audiences across all genres and demographics,” said Academy President & CEO, Bruce L. Paisner. “We look forward to honoring his remarkable body of work with our Founders Award.”

Berlanti is best known for his work as executive producer and co-creator of The CW’s Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl , collectively referred to as The CW’s Arrowverse. Additionally, Berlanti serves as executive producer on The CW’s Riverdale, Black Lightning, and NBC’s Blindspot . Upcoming television projects via his Berlanti Productions banner include Lifetime’s straight-to-series thriller You; the live-action version of DC Entertainment’s Titans; and ABC’s new series Deception ; the untitled Sabrina series for Netflix, based on the original beloved television series. Berlanti Productions surpassed their own record this year, as they now currently have eleven television productions on the air across multiple major networks.

Berlanti started in television as a staff writer on the hit show Dawson’s Creek where he was promoted to showrunner by his second year on the series. Since then, Berlanti has served as creator, writer, and producer behind several of the most creative and lauded television series in history including WB’s Everwood and Jack & Bobby, ABC’s Brothers & Sisters, Eli Stone (for which he was nominated for a WG Aaward), and Dirty, Sexy, Money, and the USA Network’s mini- series Political Animals (for which he was nominated for a WGA, DGA and Golden Globe award). During Upfronts 2017, it was announced that Berlanti would make television history with a total of 10 scripted series on the air at the same time.

Norwegian Detective Series Mammon II Wins in Drama
Kenneth Branagh & Anna Friel Win Best Performance Categories

NEW YORK, November 20, 2017 – The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the winners of the 45th International Emmy® Awards tonight at a Black-Tie Gala event attended by 1,000 television professionals from around the world and hosted by comedian Maz Jobrani at the New York Hilton.

The Directorate Award and 11 Emmy statues were presented by the International Academy during the evening.

Discovery Communications CEO David Zaslav, presented the International Emmy Directorate Award to Emilio Azcárraga Jean, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of Grupo Televisa, the world’s largest Spanish-language content provider and Mexico’s largest broadcaster and pay television provider.

Kenneth Branagh accepted the Emmy for Best Performance by an Actor for his role as detective Kurt Wallander in Wallander. Anna Friel accepted the Emmy for Best Performance by an Actress for her role as Detective Sergeant Marcella Backland in Marcella.

The 11 winning International Emmy programs and performances span 8 countries: Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Norway, Turkey, The UK and the US. They are: Hip-Hop Evolution (Arts Programming), Kenneth Branagh (Best Performance by an Actor), Anna Friel (Best Performance by an Actress), Alan Partridge’s Scissored Isle (Comedy), EXODUS: Our Journey to Europe (Documentary), Mammon II (Drama Series), Sr. Ávila (Non-English Language US Primetime Program), Sorry Voor Alles (Non-Scripted Entertainment),The Braun Family (Short-Form Series); Kara Sevda(Telenovela), and Don’t Leave Me (TV Movie/Mini-Series). The International Academy has announced today that in light of recent events it will not honor Kevin Spacey with the 2017 International Emmy Founders Award.

2017 INTERNATIONAL EMMY® KIDS AWARDS NOMINEES SPAN 16 COUNTRIES

Cannes/Mipcom, October 16, 2017 – Nominations for the International Emmy® Kids Awards were announced today by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences at a press conference at Mipcom. There are 28 nominees in 7 categories. The full list of Nominees follows this release.

Nominations span 16 countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, Singapore, Sweden, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

“The Academy is proud to be the preeminent platform for showcasing and recognizing the remarkable wealth and geographic spread of quality kids programming produced around the world,” said Bruce L. 2017 International Emmy® News & Current Affairs Winners Announced

New York, October 5, 2017 – The 2017 International Emmy for News was presented tonight to Inside Aleppo – Battle for Aleppo (United Kingdom). The Emmy for Current Affairs was presented to Exposure: Saudi Arabia Uncovered (United Kingdom). The International Emmys were presented by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in conjunction with the US News Emmys during a ceremony which took place at Lincoln Center, in New York City.
